INFANTS
We know how important the first two years of your child’s life are. At Young Academics we nurture the infants under our care with age and developmentally appropriate resources, carefully designed learning environments, supportive educators and our signature education programs.
- Our Evolution Program acknowledges that infants are explorers and focuses on their development in five key areas – physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language, which are informed by the Early Years Learning Framework.
- We provide your child with the best possible start to life with plenty of opportunities for them to reach developmental milestones in an environment of deliberate exploration and intentional teaching.
Children are born ready to learn and infants’ brains develop through use. At Young Academics we ensure a stimulating environment for your child with a variety of experiences for them to play and learn. Infants and young children learn best when they have warm, engaged, and responsive relationships with their main carers, including parents, guardians, and early childhood teachers, which is why we invest in our number one resource – our skilled educators who care for your child.
Your infant will be supported in our centres through:
Experiences
Every experience is designed to help infants develop and move towards key milestones, from reading and singing to promote oral and aural language skills, to stimulating curiosity through sensory experiences.
Resources
Through intentional resources, equipment, and facilities such as sensory panels, toys and mirrors, infants naturally learn to recognise basic concepts, shapes and colours.
Consistency
To foster positive behaviours, our educators work hard to ensure that children’s basic needs such as sleeping, eating, active and quiet play are met on time, every day.
development & growth
Young Academics’ Evolution Program for infants recognises that the first two years is a period of rapid growth and development and allows for tailored goals and milestones according to each child’s individual timeline.
Some examples of how our Evolution Program supports your child’s learning and development during this important time include:
- Physical
- Social
- Emotional
- Cognitive
- Language
Physical
Our safe nurturing environments allow for freedom of movement for your infant to stretch, move around, walk, and dance, as they slowly build their physical abilities and become more active. This is how children learn to develop their sense of health and physical wellbeing as they refine their complex sensory-motor skills and movement patterns.
Social
By providing warm and trusting relationships alongside our safe and nurturing environments, we support your infant in building a foundation for their social development. From reactions to responsiveness and attention spans, we deliberately encourage children’s efforts to communicate their emotions, both verbally and non-verbally.
Emotional
Through conscious bonding and genuine affection, our educators build a rapport with your child and as a result, they will learn to confidently communicate their own emotional needs. Our programs and educators work cohesively to help your infant learn to connect with themselves and others.
Cognitive
We are dedicated to ensuring that children are confident learners. Our centres provide age-appropriate resources, such as matching and sorting games, that will challenge infants, spark interest and promote enquiry. At the same time, we ensure that they enjoy the learning process, as they work through and achieve the developmental milestones relevant to their age group.
Language
Verbal and non-verbal interactions are crucial for your infant’s development. Our program encourages effective communications by reading aloud, giving simple instructions, and developing specific play routines. Our expert educators respond to your child’s own interests and will switch up the approach to learning to best suit the individual.
Young Academics will nurture your child with developmentally appropriate resources, safe spaces and supportive educators and programs. At a time when your child is undergoing rapid growth and development, we aim to give them the best possible start to their early education. Across our early learning centres we consistently provide:
We see our relationship with our families as a partnership as we work together to ensure your child’s early education experience sets them up for a lifelong love of learning. If parents want to extend their toddlers learning at home, helping them to achieve their developmental milestones, some fun ways they can do this include:
- Letting your child choose a game or activity to play with you or getting them to plan a family outing is a great way to encourage autonomy.
- Get your child to help you label their personal items they bring into their early learning centre is a fun way for them to learn literacy skills.
- Engaging in pretend play by dressing up and acting out new scenes together is a great way for your child to explore their creative side and express emotions.
- Leaning a song in a different language together will help to introduce your toddler to different cultures and the idea of diversity.
