We want children to understand the importance of healthy living and to be guided towards lifelong healthy habits. The connection between hygiene, physical activity and nutrition are integral to improving your child’s wellbeing and self-confidence. Our Nutrition program focuses on encouraging this connection by offering children healthy options for their meals and snacks. In turn, this improves your child’s ability to concentrate and grow.
Our qualified staff regularly consult with families about what works best for the Young Academics community, and we use this information to create our seasonal menus. All menus are sent to Munch and Move, the NSW child health initiative, to ensure that they fit within the National Quality Framework and Early Years Learning Framework.
Our Nutrition program promotes healthy living. Throughout a typical day at Young Academics, healthy snacks and refreshments are provided to complement our physical movement activities. We also encourage children to develop self-help skills, including:
To optimise our Transition to School Program, our Nutrition program participates in initiatives such as Crunch and Sip, Lunch Box Month, Lunch Order Week and Canteen Week. These increase your child’s awareness of health and nutrition through conversations and routines that help improve wellbeing from a young age.
Our Nutrition program is complemented by our Kitchen Garden Program, which teaches children how food is grown, harvested and prepared for meals. This is not only an engaging way to develop an understanding of nutrition but also helps children to understand the seasons and the journey our food takes from farm to plate.
Our educators help your child identify various textures and tastes appropriate to their age. We also encourage drinking water and milk throughout the day to assist in habit-building and ensuring that your little one is well prepared for their day ahead.
