Embracing Eco-Friendly Practises in Early Education

There are so many reasons we should be encouraging children to embrace eco-friendly practices throughout their early education. At Young Academics, we know that small actions often have some of the biggest impacts, which is exactly why we are big believers in encouraging small, eco-friendly practices in your child to instil an appreciation for nature and sustainability.

Early Environmental Education & Its Importance

Early childhood is arguably one of the most vital times in a person’s life for shaping their future attitudes and behaviours – and when we introduce eco-friendly practices at an early age, they’re more likely to stick. When we encourage eco-friendly practices in children at an early age, we help to create a generation that values and prioritises sustainable practices.

Reducing Waste

One of the key pillars that you can encourage in children is to focus on waste reduction and to encourage your child to be mindful of rubbish too! We’ve seen the benefits of reducing the rubbish your child uses first hand, these are some of the ways we recommend reducing rubbish with your child to promote a healthier and happier planet!

Eco-friendly Snack Time

At Young Academics, we encourage the use of reusable containers and utensils over single use plastics or items. You can even get your child involved with the packing of their lunch to show them how to pack a delicious lunchbox with minimal waste!

Recycling Education

We encourage our children to engage and learn about the benefits of recycling. This can include designated recycling bins or having children sort pictures into their recyclable category to foster a sense of responsibility for recycling in your child.

Green Learning Spaces

At Young Academics, we aim to create a learning environment for your children that helps to foster a love of the environment and for sustainability. Our classrooms and outdoor areas are designed to foster a love for the outdoors and to encourage a sense of responsibility for the planet.

Natural Light

Natural light is crucial in early childhood education, and it’s also great to bring the outdoors into the classroom. This allows children to feel like they are in the great outdoors, even if the weather doesn’t permit.

Green Spaces

At Young Academics we want to incorporate green spaces and outdoor classroom environments as much as possible to encourage children to learn about plants, insects, animals and have a hands-on approach to learning about different ecosystems and environments.

How Young Academics Is Promoting Eco-Friendly Practices

We know that every small step you encourage children to undertake towards a more eco-friendly lifestyle can shape the way children interact with their environment in the future. We are committed to establishing positive eco-friendly practices in early education to get the future generation off on the right foot!
