Emergencies are never planned but our response to them is.
At Young Academics, we take emergency preparedness seriously, because we know that in a moment of uncertainty, how we respond makes all the difference. Whether it’s a fire drill, an unexpected lockdown, or a medical incident, our team is trained, confident, and ready to act calmly and effectively.
All of our centres run regular emergency drills throughout the year including fire evacuations and lockdown procedures. These drills aren’t just for compliance, they help children and educators build familiarity and confidence.
- Children learn what to do in a calm, reassuring way
- Educators practice clear roles and responsibilities
- Centres refine and improve procedures over time
Every Young Academics centre is equipped with:
- Clearly marked emergency exits and evacuation maps
- Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and emergency alarms
- First aid kits stocked and checked regularly
- Emergency bags with essentials (e.g. contact lists, medication, wipes, water)
We also work closely with local emergency services to ensure our plans are up to date and tailored to each centre’s layout and community.
All educators at Young Academics complete training in:
- First Aid
- CPR
- Anaphylaxis and asthma management
- Child protection and mandatory reporting
- Emergency evacuation and lockdown protocols
In the event of an emergency or unexpected event:
- Families are notified as soon as it’s safe and appropriate
- You’ll receive clear, factual information through our usual communication channels (email, phone, or app)
- Our leadership team ensures consistent messaging across centres
By practicing regularly, reviewing our systems, and maintaining open communication with families, we ensure that every Young Academics centre is a safe place to grow, learn, and explore.
